Make sure you fill out the supplemental waivers if you want to use the climbing wall or go snow tubing. And make sure any friend you are inviting puts your name on their form so that you get credit for inviting them.

Wanna Learn to Rock?

Pastor Ryan is giving free guitar/bass lessons on a weekly basis. This is taking place at the church on Tuesdays from 4:30 - 6:00pm. You must be able to make a committment to attend regularly, as well as to a regular practice schedule. You also need to provide your own instrument or make other arrangements. Contact Pastor Ryan with any questions.

October Updates...

A couple of things to remind you about this month...

1. The Momentum October photo contest is underway...make sure you get your entries in by Oct. 30th. Remember, the winner gets a $50 gift card to the store of your choice. Photos must be of you and you must be modeling the pose from our logo. We'll be grading on accuracy and creativity. I'd encourage you...think outside the box and do what it takes to get that good shot. It might mean getting a little crazy. See if you find some inspiration in this one:

2. Just added to the calendar...a special event coming up on Friday, October 26th at 7:00pm. We will be hosting a Worship Party at our church along with the youth group from Cloquet Gospel Tabernacle and their worship team. Come and join your friends from camp as we worship and pray together.

3. If you've enjoyed the promo videos for our fall retreat, we've got something extra special for you as a visitor of the site. Follow this link to our video page, and you can watch a collection of outtakes from the footage for the retreat, as well as the promo clips that we've shown on Wednesday night. Now, I'm not claiming that they are oscar-worthy, but you might get a chuckle or two out of them. And don't forget- you need to get those registrations in ASAP. Later!

Fall Retreat is for LOSERS....

This year's fall retreat is going to be an amazing time together as a group. We're heading out to Covenant Park Bible Camp (only about 1/2 hour from Duluth) for a time of spiritual focus. In the book of Matthew, we're told that if we really want our lives to mean something, we must first learn how to lose them for the sake of Christ. So check it out, let's learn how to be losers together! You can download a registration form here, or pick one up off the youth board at church. New October Series...

Hey Momentum:
Well, it seems our website suffered a little bit during this eventful summer, but not to fear, we're back and better than ever for the fall! Make sure you check out the forms section for a registration form for our fall retreat, coming up October 18-20, over MEA weekend. Also, we've got a brand new message series this month, "Flickr: Pictures of God". Have you ever wandered what God really looks like? It seems we have a lot of mental images about who He is...be there Wednesdays in October to find out what the real deal is. See you there!

August Update...

Here's an update on what's happening this month for youth events. We will resume our home meetings on Wednesday nights at 6:30pm at Ryan ad Liz's house. These meetings are a casual time of worship with a short devotional and snacks. These meetings end at 8:00pm, and please help us by making sure you have a ride home when it's over. We also have one more large group event before school starts..see below for details:

Monday, August 20th our group will be taking a trip down to the Cities for some fun before everyone heads back to school. We will spend some time at the Mall of America and then go to a Twins baseball game. Permission slips are available here or on the info desk at church. We will be leaving the church at 11:30am and returning between midnight at 1:00am. The cost of this event is $10.00, and you will also need to bring money for dinner at the Mall of America. We encourage you to invite your friends to come along on this trip! Contact Pastor Ryan with any questions!

Momentum in July...

Hey Momentum…

I just wanted to make sure everyone is aware of the details for our July activities. There are still spaces available for the camps, so if you still want to go, please contact me as soon as possible and we can still get you in.

We will not be meeting on Wednesday nights in July, due to the camps and other activities. In August, we will resume meeting at my house on Wednesday evenings.

Junior Teen Camp is coming up this Monday, July 9th through the 13th. We are meeting at the church at 8:00am Monday morning to leave for Fosston. You will need to bring a sack lunch to eat along the way. We’ll have a cooler for you to use if you want to keep things cold. We should arrive back in Duluth by 4:00pm on Friday. You will need to bring money for a meal on the way home Friday.

Senior Camp is Sunday July 15th through Friday July 20th. We will be leaving immediately following the 10:00am service on Sunday. (Normally gets done between 11:30-12:00).
Since we’re leaving straight from church, please remember to bring all of your stuff with you, as you will NOT have time to run home and get it. We’ll plan on providing lunch for you at the church as we leave. It’s very important that we leave quickly this year, in order to get to the camp in time for me to set-up the registration for the other groups coming. On Friday, we’ll be back at DGT by 4:00pm, and we will be stopping for lunch on the way home, so plan on bringing money for that.

Also, don’t forget that the following week (July 23-26) is VBS for those in Junior High. Also, if any of our older students would like to help me out, please call and talk to me about what you can help with.

Momentum will be going to Valley Fair on Friday, July 27th. You can grab a permission slip by clicking here or checking out the forms section of the website. We will meet at the church at 7:30am and will return home around 1:00am. Start inviting your friends now…let’s pack the bus out!

Group Paintball

Our group will be going back to Superior Fire Power to play some paintball. Meet at the church at 4:00pm to eat pizza and leave to go play. We will return by 9:00pm. Included is everything you need to play. If you have your own equipment, you can pay the $10 field fee and purchase your own paint. EVERYONE must complete the waiver form and have a parent's signature to play. Download the permission slips here. See you there!

Momentum X-Games

Wednesday night, May 23rd kicks off our two week team competition, the Momentum X-Games. Those of you that took part last year remember that it got a little crazy, and while I don’t want to spoil any surprises, I will tell you that my shopping list has things like Duct Tape, Bologna, Jell-O, Whip-Cream, and Hair gel, just to name a few. Make sure you’re here to help your team emerge victorious. The winning team at the end of the two weeks will be well rewarded. Don’t miss out on the next two weeks. Oh, and you might want to wear something you don’t mind getting messy...

Shop-A-Holics...

Attention Ladies-
Saturday, April 21st is a Momentum Girls Shopping Trip down to Minneapolis. Stops include the Mall of America and Outlet Shopping. Grab a permission slip here, or chekc the info center at church. Cost of the trip is $5.00 to cover transportation, and you will need money for 2 meals. You also might want to bring some money to shop with! Any questions, email Liz Underwood

Ascension Convention Promo

Ascension Convention 2007

Hey Senior High...Ascension Convention 2007 is coming up quick- April 4th-7th. Registration is now open for the event, but you need to hurry, because space is only guaranteed through the March 14th deadline. The cost this year is $155.00. This year's event features several great speakers; Reggie Dabbs, David Perkins, and Garth Heckman. This year's musical guest is John Reuben. Also, this year we're adding an extra day to the trip, and your registration includes a ticket to Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament (if you've never been you're in for a treat!).

This Sunday (March 4th) we are hosting our annual spaghetti dinner fundraiser, so if you want to earn some money towards this trip, you need to be there this Sunday! If you have questions, get in touch with Pastor Ryan as soon as possible. And get ready for a great time!

Acquire the Fire

Hey Junior High Students...Don't miss your chance to register for this year's Acquire the Fire event! The dates are Feb. 16th and 17th. Cost is $85.00 if you register by 2/1/07, after that it goes up to $100. This year's conference features some great bands, including Pillar, Red, and KJ-52.
